Dear dear Tony,

Like the 'Red Injuns' would say...... I see you.

Your previous letter did do many rounds and I believe that the whole world of Goans have taken it in. Even writers like Pachu Menon made it a point to elaborate on it in his recent write-up ' The Changing Face of Goan Politics' over which I have made my comments.

You have been there for Goa through Gomant Lokh Poxh which unfortunately could not break any ice. It could have, if the traditional enemy of Goa and Goans, the MGP, hadn't played 'spoil sport' through the master spoiler Ramakant Khalap who is now keeping that 'spoil sport' ideology floating in the Congress camp along with many of this former colleagues [you will know what I mean]. They say that the 'rat' is an ideal survivor. He is often the reason of a ship going down. But not him. He jumps off and somehow makes it to safety. Even the sharks and the stinging rays are scared of the rats because of their inbuilt ability to rat on others.

After the United Goans, GLP was Goa's only hope. But its ultimate undoing has been the inner insecurity of its founders which has seen to it that GLP has been hocked - lock - stock and barrel for reasons best know to a very few.

The third in line to come up is Goa Su-Raj with a couple of the GLP founders making up its rank and file. But this time, experience has taught very many lessons to people who will want Goans to unite. Two things. Religion and Caste. Give wide berth to these two nuclear bombs and the Goan unity may, just may come close to being an unity. Otherwise there is no chance in hell. With these things in mind, Goa Su-Raj has managed to stay afloat for a decade now, even if it has not been able to make a dent in Goan politics which can be described as 'politics of a fully laden plate'. There will be no takers for it even if it is half full. In Konkani, this phenomenon can be best explained by saying "LEUMTEAMCHI ANI POKREANCHI POLITICS".

Since its inception, Goa Su-Raj has been off the list of most of the newspaper editors. There was a time when Rajan Narayan as the editor of Herald had told me point blank - "Tum kitem korun dakhoi"... when I, as the president of the newly formed Goa Su-Raj complained to him that he was not publishing my press statements and press notes at all, why?. To that I had promptly replied to him, also in Konkani: "AMI KITEIM PUNN KORUN TUKA DAKHOITELEAUM- PUNN TUKA HAMSOUCHEAK AMI ROSTEAMCHER NAGDE NACHCHENAUM". I could make out that he was lost and therefore I had asked him "Have you understood what I said?" When he shook his head, I had told him off , never to speak Konkani with blue blooded Goans and I had gone ahead and translated my sentence to him and left. [ WE SHALL DO SOMETHING AND SHOW YOU... BUT WE SHALL NOT DANCE NAKED ON THE STREET TO MAKE YOU LAUGH]. Later on when he was kicked out of the Herald, I got myself on the board of directors of his Goan Observer because I wanted to study him at close range; went on to recue him from Manohar Parrikar's wrath by giving him the premises at Campal for just Rs. 4000/- a month. But when I had accomplished my mission , I kicked him out with a lawyers' notice with myself getting off the stink as one of the directors of GO.

There is so much bad-blood being spewed on the newspapers about Goa's selfish politics and corruption that I, taking advantage of the 64th Goa's Revolution Day, drafted a paid advertisement costing approx. Rs. 4000/- and sent it to Herald (only) because this party does not have the luxury of spending thousands of Rupees to feed the news paper wallahs. And it was a shocking experience for me to have it rejected out-right. The reason given ( to my ad agent) is that 'this ad will go against the government because it says 'bad;selfish;corrupted governance' ( and ofcourse the 2nd. revolution, Opinion Poll 2 etc). I have happily withdrawn the ad instead of re-drafting it. As a matter of fact, I have published it on the internet forums and our website, but that the ad was rejected was mentioned only on our website. I am telling you this because I am on the topic of newspapers and its editors. See Tony, the philosophy is like this. If Goa Su-Raj has not found favour with editors of the newspapers for last 10 years, and it has still survived, then it does not need the newspapers. Let them block our paid ads too. That too is not going to affect us. I have said that this is a REVOLUTIONARY PARTY and it will remain that way. We shall survive. But one thing this Party will not do is to go with a begging bowl to anyone.

These newspaper wallahs make us believe that they are tigers. Indeed, they are. Paper ones at that :-).

BTW: Goans will be Proud to be Goan only when they get enough courage to kick the Delhi-Nagpur-Maharashtra High Commands out of Goa for good. National politics is, as I have said ' leaumteamchi ani pokreamchi politics' and it will see Goa over the steepest cliff and out , sooner than later.

Cheers

PROUD TO BE A GOAN?

A decade ago I had the privilege of being elected President of
World-Wide Goans,
an organisation which sought to unite the Goan diaspora throughout the
world and which
organised an International Goan Convention at the Kala Academy, Panjim
in January
