The Congress had dropped the then Finance Minister Dayanand Narvekar for being charge-sheeted in the 2001 Ticketgate Scam. However, within a span of three days two ministers Babush Monseratte and Vishwajeet Rane have switched their loyalty to Congress. Incidentally, both have been charge-sheeted by the police in different cases. While CBI has charge-sheeted Babush in two cases including the Police station attack case in 2007, Vishwajeet has been charge-sheeted by Old Goa Police for threatening to kill a lawyer. When this was pointed to the Goa Pradesh Congress Committee president Subash Shirodkar, he said, “Dropping any minister is the prerogative of the chief minister.” “I have no information about Vishwajeet and Babush being charge-sheeted in criminal cases,” Shirodkar stated. Further, he said, he would gather information on the issue and take and take it up with the high command.
