Dear Goans everywhere,
Yesterday evening I was at 'Remy Studios' at Mapusa to get my wife
photographed for a visa application. [The problem is that Visa application
photo is 35 x 45 mm which size is much bigger than the normal Passport
Photograph]. And there was one Kanadiga, checking out rates for different
sizes of photographs {It looked as if he wanted photographs by the
hundreds]. The sales girl ultimately got cheesed off and asked this
'ghanti' "what for do you want a photograph?" The pat reply came " Ration
Card ke liye". [for a ration card] So the girl chirped in to say.. "why
didn't you say so in the first place instead of wasting my time?" To that I
intervened and told the 'ghanti' " A re' buddhu. Tumko malum nahi hai ki abi
Bhahar ke admi ke liye Ration Card dena bhand kiya hai? Tu neh TV pe nahim
sunah??"" [You idiot, don't you know that all ration cards are stopped for
outsiders? Haven't you watched the TV?] To that , the guy got confused.
But there was his agent sitting there [unknown to me but definately a
perfect Konkani speaking Ghanti] and he interjected " Paise deh ga toh
Goa'me sabkuch milta hai!" [ If you give money you get everything in Goa].
So I asked him "Kisko paisa dehna hai? Minister ko?" [ Whom to give money,
the minister?] And he promptly said " Minister ko kheum? Mamlatdar ke office
meh bahoot sab dalal haim' [ Why to Minister? There are many agents in the
Mamlatdhar's office].
And that is when I, with my usual flair, made the following statement to
all who were there at that time "Look here Goans" I said " this is how your
Goa is being SOLD Left, Right and Center" "And we Goans are cribbing about
saving Goa??????"
There was a silent acknowledment from all around.
But that is that. Nothing else can be done.
IF WE GOANS ARE THE PIMPS, WHY SHOULD THE PROSTITUTES NOT FLOURISH IN GOA???
Is the question that I have always asked.
My very crystal clear MESSAGE to my brotheren Goans.
"Goans.... do stand in long; serpentine queues to vote for your Sonia and
Rahul Gandhi's CONGRESS".
"Goans.... do stand in long, serpentine queues to vote for your Advani's,
RSS' and Manohar Parrikar's BJP"
"Goans... do stand in not so long, queues to vote for your Sharad
Pawar's NCP"
"Goans ... do vote for your heart imprisoned 'Lion' of the MGP"
"Goans .. (especially from the South) do not fail to vote for your dear
'don panna' [two green leaves] which are already turning yellow.
"But but Goans, you make sure that you, even by mistake, do not vote for
'don vati' [two candles] , because, all these ghantis will lose their ration
cards and remain hungry on the roads and you will be obliged to feed them
from your very own hard earned plates".
