If I knew it was edible I would have eaten some.
Those of you in Goa (and who might visit to see River Princess, Cadolim), 
can try some.  It’s located close to the beach near a shak, a road to the 
beach closest to grounded ship RP)
 
Talking about the edible fruits, it reminds me of  a recent editorial  in local 
daily 
where it was said ‘Rain Trees’ also bear red fruits and which are also edible. 
But I never seen fruits on a rain tree. My it I read it wrong.

RESPONSE: We got these cactus in Nairboi, the fruit was called Kai Apple
 and is edible and quite pleasant - has to be carefully opned, due to the 
small sharp needles. Sometimes in season we get it in our Supermarkets 
here in England. Well now you can get it free there in Goa!
