Ratol - Suicides on the rise? – II My heart breaks when I read about the unnatural deaths like suicides, road accidents, drowning etc etc. particularly when young lives lost. Suicides: Don’t’ know what the present day youngsters are up to? Some do it because of the exams results, where as some do it over a lover affair (including over a SMS from their lovers) Some do it under tension/depression – financial problems, poverty etc What ever it is. Always remember ‘It’s not the end of the world’
Why give your soul to Satan (devil) when you can safely handover it to your God? More and more suicide cases are reported almost daily. Talking of last few days, a young girl (below 18) set herself ablaze (just a day before her birthday) allegedly due to harassment by her boyfriend 21. She died on 28th June. Boy friend being questioned by the Police A 45 year old, a Corgao native hanged himself to death on 30th June 2010. He used dupatta as rope to ceiling fan. Died leaving behind his wife and two kids. As for the Ratol suicide, besides the three reported earlier, there was another case recently (29th June) where a woman, 28, of Vasco has consumed Ratol. In her statement she said that ‘she consumed Ratol by mistaking it for something else’ She is still in hospital. In another recent case, a young boy 20, Don Bosco College TYBA Student from Brittona committed suicide. Died on 29th June and funeral took place on 30th June http://www.flickr.com/photos/joegoaukextra2/4750951189/ Surprisingly, no news papers (English Dailies) brought this up to the notice of the public which otherwise, they usually do in other suicide cases etc. God only knows how many such cases go unreported. As for Rat poison, it seems Ratol is becoming very popular amongst the suiciders. At least 4 such reported cases in less than 2 month and taking into account unreported cases, the figure could be even more thus causing a grave concern to the society. If Ratol is really that popular then steps should be taken as to stop or reduce such deaths including banning the sale of Ratol in Goa etc. On this earth, we only live once, let’s live our lives to the fullest.
