people. What is the use of having such a senior politician in the Assembly, if
he cannot even build a small bridge for the people of his constituency, for
children to use it, to go to school

It is not a surprise to read how backward Sattari the constituency represented
by Rane, the former Chief Minister and one of the seniormost Congressman is.
After all we elect our MLAs in the hope that they would take up our causes and
do whatever they can for our betterment. These politicians come with folded
hands and promise the moon during elections. However no sooner they are
elected overnight they are changed men. All the promises are totally
forgotten and thorn in the dust bin. They now believe only in their own
betterment and the locals are totally forgotten and the politicians become
alien to them. In this age it is very difficult if not impossible to get
honest and clean politicians. It is only muscle power and money that make them
get re-elected and they have their die hard supporters and ass lickers (many of
whom are Goans) who for their own personal gains would do anything to help the
politicians.
