Pulic Awareness: From my Cell Inbox Unsolicited notifications/offers/Scams by SMS Mobile in Goa is still a big craze and hence a bif busniness too. Some of them changes cells every six months Some earning just Rs.3000 a month but they buy mobile worth Rs.4000+
Yet, there are many who are complete novice (young, semi-literate etc) and hence good chances of getting tempted to such tempting offers. At this stage, I must reveal that even some highly educated people can easily fall prey to these scams. Not long ago, I received a mail from a known net personality forwarding me the winning email notification – ‘Please Treat this confidential, I have not told anyone about this yet’ he remarked and wanted to seek my help/advice on it. Although I read, I did not reply to it hoping he will learn or find out himself in due course (Surprised me he did not find out all this time ) 2 days later, he send me a reminder saying he is still waiting for my advise. At this time I replied to him saying I get in my inbox on anaverage 12 such winning notifications per day, Also, attached one. To this, I got a quick reply from him saying ‘You are my savior, thanks a lot’ I must also further reveal that the person is NRI Goan (not from the Gulf though) In a bid to get rich overnight, some victims may try to do it on their own (secretly) thus giving a chance to clear up their entire bank balances etc There are some reported cases where in some fell prey to this type of scams in Goa.
