I am quite surprised by this debate (Goanet and Goa's Media) on reservation
to minorities Catholic’s. As (Frederick Noronha, rightly pointed out
this outburst is nothing but a political statement from Mr Parrikar to find
favour with Catholics voters circa 2012, so let’s not fall for his bait. I
can understand the sentiment of the guys who are advocating reservation to
minorities Catholic’s but you cannot run government by sentiments.

India is already plagued with various reservation policies because of which
over half of Indian population is suffering incurable disease. The need of
the hour is not reservation policies but good governance with people
oriented policies which will elevate people’s sufferings. 60 years of
Indian independence has failed 50 percent of Indians primarily because of
various religions, caste and ethnicity based reservation polices.

We must ask our government to formulate policies that will create better
education system. Ask government to formulate transparent recruitment
process whereby a deserving candidate get job based on his/her
competencies. Corruption is the key. We as citizen failed to make noise
when one is asked to pay bribe to get job. We are become a corruption
tolerant society. We are become so handicapped that we like to knock MLA’s
and Minister’s door for anything and every thing. We fail to remind our
elected representatives on their election promise.

Corruption has increased because we approach and pay what may to get the
job done, now the price is gone up due to inflation and Goans cannot pay
the price MLA’s and Minister is demanding so we make noise. Catholics
(just as other Christians) are follower of Christ and Christ has never
preached that individuals should get favours by proxy. Let me quote the
Bilbe, ‘But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all
these things will be added to you’ (Mt 6:33).’They love places of honor at
banquets, seats of honor in synagogues, greetings in marketplaces, and the
salutation 'Rabbi'(Mt 23:6). ‘The greatest among you must be your servant.
Whoever exalts himself will be humbled; but whoever humbles himself will be
exalted’ (Mt 23:11-12)
