-- Samir Umarye BICHOLIM JULY 30: Three persons from Mayem Bicholim were confirmed to have been infested with chikengunya even as there are another about 37 other persons people who are suspected to have been infected with the disease.
Today the PHC conducted a health checkup camp in the area after the Mayme panchayat through a letter told that there are several cases of chikangunia in the panchayat. About 150 villagers were checked and the health department found three cases of the disease. The health officers also suspected another 37 persons with similar signs of chikangunia. During the camp Dr Shekhar Salkar told the general public about the precautions to be taken to avoid the spread of the epidemic. Speaking to media Mayem panch, Anand Naik claimed that in most of the places in the panchayat at least one person from each family has fallen sick or is having feaver.
