-- Samir Umarye BICHOLIM AUG 6: Bicholim police today arrested three persons from Surla Bicholim for threatening a local scribe.
According to the complaint registered by one Suresh Bayekar from Baye Surla who is also a reporter of a local Marathi daily three persons from Surla threatened him of kidnapping and killing him on Wednesday. As per the reports the scribe reported against the illegal gambling operating in the village and through the report had urged the authorities to act against the matka bookies. Enraged with the reports in the paper three persons including Nako Bayekar; Raynath Gawda and Ramdas Satodkar from Surla caught hold of the scribe and threatened him of Kidnapping and killing him. On Thursday Suresh filed a written complaint with the Bicholim police. Following the complaint the police arrested the three persons under section 151 IPC. Today later in the evening the Bicholim patrakar sangh convened a meeting and denounced the act. They also have demanded the police that action should be taken against the accused and such incidents should be looked upon seriously. The Bicholim PI, Harish Madkaikar assured that he would personally look into the matter. It may be recalled that this is the third such incident in Bicholim since past few months. Earlier, a reported was assaulted when he went to take pictures of Bicholim flood.
