I am happy that I could at all make it to this meet.
It was jammed packed with people standing, gentlemen getting up to give seats to ladies et al. Two un-mistakable Santa Clauses were perched on the bar counter at the rear, side by side. Dillip Borkar and yours sincerely.

Arvind Kejriwal, a very young dynamite took me all by surprise. Well informed, excellent speaker, gave a rundown on how the self-governing system of Panchayat and Municipal Councils should work. He clearly said that what we have in India is not democracy at all. According to him democracy starts with gram sabhas taking final decisions on what should be and what they want. He related a story of a Maharaja in the olden days where his highness was asked to vacate the Palace, to be handed over to the new gram sabha sponsored leader, a woman who accepted the leadership on the condition that she got the palace. That the Maharaj had to vacate and become the non-entity through the dictat of the people.

Ms. Swati ( I have not been able to get her first name) was equally a fire-brand speaker. She talked about how in Delhi, the big-wig politicians and the High Handed Police Commissioners are being brought down to their knees by the ordinary people of the municipal wards through the local gram sabha ( a different name) meets. He had to cut short her delivery because of paucity of time and I am sorry she had to.

In all, what they talked about is what I have said in my article " PEOPLE' PANEL SYSTEM TO FIGHT PANCHAYAT AND MUNICIPAL ELECTION"

I have taken the opportunity to CONGRATULATE Arvind Kejriwal and Ms. Swati when I spoke saying that they have injected some new energetic blood in the people of GOA, who are mostly resistant to CHANGE. Why? Because there are no abject poor in Goa and the haves are too lethargic to change the system. I have also taken the opportunity to tell Arvind that if possible he should liaise with Goa's Soter D'Souza of Panchayat Raj System so that Goa Panchayat Raj act may be hugely amended to remove any and all powers from the Sarpanch and the Secretary and to make the Gram Sabhas the POWER CENTRE to decide what they want and what they do not want.

In Arvind's own words, The people will fight and fight but what comes out will never be something bad. It will always be everything good. He gave an example of a person or persons wanting a wine shop in the village as it was too much trouble to get a bottle when required. When this question was raised at the Gram Sabha, even the people who drink and wanted the wine shop badly in the vicinity, declared that they did not want one, only because in private they drank but in public they were the saints.

An last but not the least, I spoke about the PPS [People for Political Sanity] because Arvind himself, on many occasions, said that the power to the gram sabhas is real politics. I have publicly gifted to Arvind the Su-Raj Party's expanded Presentation file along with the PPS FAQ.

Hopefully Arvind will go thro' it and get in touch with me for future discourse.

PS: I have spotted most of Goa's activists, including Judith Almeida who also spoke during the interaction.

It is not ENOUGH that GOOD, HONEST citizens contest elections.
It is not ENOUGH that GOOD, HONEST citizen voters elect good, honest representatives.
GOA urgently needs 'GOOD, HONEST, DISCIPLINED SYSTEM of GOVERNANCE'.
Wherein, even a dishonest person is forced to be good, honest n disciplined, or to QUIT.

Only through PPS can such 'good, honest n disciplined system of governance' be identified and accepted.
