Fr. Ivo wrote (Message: 8, dated: Fri, 6 Aug 2010): Dear Dr.U.G.Barad, If
you do not understand my logic, neither do I understand yours. Scandals
can
be everywhere, it is part and parcel of our fallen human nature.
My response: I believe understanding you as "Father" is more important
than
understanding your logic and me! Accidents (fallen human nature in your
terms) do take place hence it is rightly called accidents! But if
something
is perpetually taking place it is not called fallen or accident. On the
contrary, such avoidable acts like clergy sex scandals needs immediate
plugging out from the system! Or else it will ruin the entire enclave.
**Media can blow events out of proportion. Sin does exist in society and
in church.
Our effort should be against the "accidents", sin, fallen nature...
Because there are "accidents", do you give up travelling? Or are you taking
more care?
Are you trying to contribute for less accidents? Fallen human nature is
there for us to cope up with.
Do you have your environment without any "accidents"? Are you not
experiencing fallen nature?
Being a "Father" (Catholic priest) , I am much more in contact with the
fallen nature than you.
Hence my logic will be different from yours. As I said, you do not
understand my logic, neither do I understand yours...
Fr. Ivo wrote: Does it mean that the Church is not marching or the society
is not in progress?
**What do you want us to do? How much can we do for American people? Pray
and set a good example.
Let us be compassionate and empathetic... We believe in forgiveness: God
forgives us and comforts us...
> My response: Your above expression has come out as your implied
version/logic. I have never said so!
***It is implied. I am just explicitating it...
Fr. Ivo wrote: Is it the end of the world, the end of Christianity? All of
us are disturbed by what is happening in India and in Goa, does it mean
that
we have no hope? What should all of us do? Harp on what is crooked and
forget to go straight and progress?
My response: Again, Your above expression has come out as your implied
logic. I have never said so!
**Again, that is the answer for your implied difficulty. You are harping
on the same keys, again and again...
Let us straighten what is crooked, let us march on...
Fr. Ivo wrote: If there are scams and scandals among the leaders of the
society, are we stagnant? What can we do in this situation? This should be
our question today and always.
My response: Cardinal principle says, "Let's set our house in order first
and only than we can attempt to set our neighbors houses right". As far as
your question about scams and scandals in society is concerned there are
ample laws to take care and government is entrusted with the
responsibility
to ensure safety in society.
**We know how much the government takes care of us in India and in Goa.
Why are we complaining so much every day?
We know how law takes care of crimes, thefts, scams, smuggling, rapes,
murders, riots...
Why are we so insecure? We try to put our house in order, but there will be
"accidents" galore,
as in a family, the father himself is a drunkard or a thief, but he will try
to admonish his son not to drink, not to steal...
Children have to shine in spite of the "accidents" fallen to the father and
mother...
Fr. Ivo wrote:...instead of dividing ourselves in terms of religion or any
other divisive force, when it is misunderstood. Let us foster what unites
us, shun what divides us...
My response: That's exactly what I believe in. But what I see in most
messages in Goanet is exactly opposite i.e. "Shunning what units
us..and...
fostering what divides us". Fr. Ivo do check goanet archives....you want
be
surprised to digest what I have written.
**If you are doing it, then continue to do it... Help others also to do it.
In Margao there are so many meetings
for the purpose of expurging the evil ("accidents") from the social life, on
problems that we are facing. Some are only
for Catholics, like Couples for Christ; others are open for all, like
Alcoholics Anonymous. You can learn from those
who are better informed, as well as give your own contribution. Let us hope
to do so!
Regards.
