A few decades back the medium of work in BMC, Collectors office, city survey offices, talatis office, mumbai police & maharashtra state govt offices were in the English language but after the medium of language was changed to marathi only the marathi people started getting jobs because of their fluency in reading/writing/speaking the marathi language.
Recently the Union government has conceded Maharashtra's demand for maximum use of Marathi in central government establishments in the state which means in the near future all jobs in central establishments in Mumbai will go the marathi people. Wonder why the marathi people are sending their children to English medium schools when they want the work to be done in marathi language. The population of the marathi people in mumbai is around 35% but they have cornered 70 to 80% of all jobs in mumbai and in few years time 100% all central / state / muncipal jobs in mumbai will go the marathi people. Wonder what the 65% non-maharashtrians in mumbai will do ? Raj Thackeray acuses the UP & Bihari migrants for slums in Mumbai but he does not acuse the people in BMC who in return for bribes from slumlords allowed the migrants to encroach land in mumbai or bombay or slumbai.
