Talking Photo: ‘Limbya Piprimuttam’

Limbya = Of Lemon (flavour/slice)
Piprimutt Sing. (Pl. Piprimuttam also Piprimittam) = Sweets
(Lemon flavour/slice boiled sweets)

Yesterday, I accidentally popped into a Exhibition cum Sale
at Don Bosco, Panjim.
When I saw these packets, it atone reminded me of
those days when I was about 7.
Bought couple of packets (product from Ooty?)
Could not wait to open and eat one.
The moment I left one on my tongue, oh my God,
it instantly took me back to the past say early 50’s.
The same flavour, the same taste.

My father being ‘tarvotti’ (Seaman), used to bring loads
of such sweets packed in large square tins (Half size of
packed Oil tins or half sized tins they use as unit
of measurement for selling locally produce salt).
I used to finish the tin very quickly as I also had a third
hand which only gives out..
