Talking Photo: ‘Limbya Piprimuttam’ Limbya = Of Lemon (flavour/slice) Piprimutt Sing. (Pl. Piprimuttam also Piprimittam) = Sweets (Lemon flavour/slice boiled sweets) Yesterday, I accidentally popped into a Exhibition cum Sale at Don Bosco, Panjim. When I saw these packets, it atone reminded me of those days when I was about 7. Bought couple of packets (product from Ooty?) Could not wait to open and eat one. The moment I left one on my tongue, oh my God, it instantly took me back to the past say early 50’s. The same flavour, the same taste. My father being ‘tarvotti’ (Seaman), used to bring loads of such sweets packed in large square tins (Half size of packed Oil tins or half sized tins they use as unit of measurement for selling locally produce salt). I used to finish the tin very quickly as I also had a third hand which only gives out.. Check this out? Extra: Besides, the type of above sweets, my father also brought tins of ‘Mari-Biskut’ (Round shaped Marie Biscuits) and also another type of biscuits which came in the form of various animals/birds shape such as rabbits, cats, dogs, owl, parrot etc. Don’t know if this biscuit (animal crackers) is still available. Britania Marie Biscuits still available though. Sometimes, my dad also brought Cream cracker biscuits except there was no cream in it. My father also brought Kraft Cheese tins, Cake tins, Cadburys, Smarties, Milkmaid, Ovaltine, Horlicks, Bacaliao, Seven-seas cod liver oil golden tablets/capsules etc Also Colwater, Sydney tel, clinical thermometer, Chinese Tiger-balm etc etc [email protected] for Goa & NRI related info... http://in.groups.yahoo.com/group/GOAN-NRI/ For Goan Video Clips http://youtube.com/joeukgoa In Goa, Dial 1 0 8 For Hospital, Police, Fire etc * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Goa-launch of the well-received *Into The Diaspora Wilderness* by Selma Carvalho on Aug 29, 2010 (Sunday) at 11 am at Ravindra Bhavan, Margao.
