The photographs are not mine. I found them by chance on Flickr.

The brazão (shield) designed for India Portuguesa is to the left of "Viva
Portugal" on

http://www.flickr.com/photos/cultura_portuguesa_da_india/

This shield was designed to be at the bottom right-hand side of the flag for
India Portuguesa.  However, the flag was not of any real use -  just an
academic
exercise, I suppose, on part of the Salazarist govt of the time.

The brazão (shield), I understand was the official coat-of-arms of India
Portuguesa from 8 May 1935 until 31 December 1974 (the latter was the date that
Portugal finally recognised the annexation of Goa by India).

See http://www.tuvalkin.web.pt/terravista/guincho/1421/bandeira/in_pt.htm
http://lusoamericans.com/gallery/displayimage.php?album=1&pos=31
and http://pt.wikipedia.org/wiki/Estado_Portugu%C3%AAs_da_%C3%8Dndia (if you
can
read Portuguese).

Take care.

PS Please excuse if I disappear from this forum for a while ... business has
picked up again :-)
