-- Samir Umarye BICHOLIM AUG 29 A number of motorcycle riders were penalised following swift action by the Mapusa Traffic cell at Bicholim on Saturday evening. The Mapusa Traffic Cell personnel, who cover Bicholim taluka, were seen at about 4 pm near the Shantadurga High School Bicholim, catching a number of motorcycle riders by surprise. Such was the panic that many two-wheeler riders parked their vehicles away from the high school and preferred to walk rather than being caught and fined. Several of them who did not carry their driving licenses were fined upto Rs 500. There were some who neither had a licence nor any money, prompting the traffic police to confiscate their vehicles. The drive lasted till late evening and even relatives of some prominent persons from Bicholim were fined.
