Thanks, Gabe, between food and music, you deliver !  That recipe must 
certainly be the right thing. 
  Western bachelors looking for quick Indian fixes can use store stocked 
spaghetti sauces for curry.  The Newman brand of a cheese based mix produces 
a north Indian korma: just mix in any common  spice blend or paste like 
amot-tik, xacuti, tandoori or vindaloo and cook for a few minutes.  

  I believe galangal is a ginger variant.
