This does seem to have shades of the North Europe versus South Europe rivalry (that Dr Teotonio talks about in Medieval Goa), a shadow perhaps of the Black Legend that the Dutch painted about the Spaniards that occasionally gets reflected in the Grand Inquisition Debate (perhaps for wholly different reasons and politics in contemporary Goa)!
