Yes, people do get injured playing basketball. But you know what, since
i started sitting by my desk all day long (couple of years ago), my back
is killing me. I tried changing chairs, expensive, cheap one, and that
helps for a while. I stand up and walk regularly too.
Humans are not designed to be sitting down all day long. Yet large
numbers, not far from majority of people i reckon, do.
Hence, living is dangerous for you health, since it involves seating for
long periods.
