MPT has taken up expansion in areas under its jurisdiction with blatant
disregard to the wishes of Goan people. Sensing backlash from the public, the
government of Goa tried in vain to undo it. Digamber cannot antagonize Sonia
and therefore made subtle efforts. On one hand he has to show people that he is
dong his best while on the other hand he has to protect his image with Madam,
lest she dumps him as CM. He has now formed a committee comprising Halarnkar,
Joaquim, Jose Philip, Churchill, Filipe Neri and Aleixo to decide on MPT's
jurisdiction. Generally he becomes the chairman himself. Not this time.
Possibly, he has realised that MPT issue will boil; so why not use it to
eliminate adverseries? Halarnkar and Jose Philip are NCP and
Joaquim-Churchill-Valanka combine threaten CM chair in two years.
If centre does not yield on MPT issue, what are Digambers options? Approach
Supreme Court? Agitate in Delhi against Manmohan/Sonia? Why is IITan silent? Is
he waiting for Congress to goof up, so that BJP gets political cannon? Are
politicians really interested in curtailing MPT jurisdiction? Most projects
lined up by MPT are for logistic linkages for hinterland. Are the crocodile
tears only because they do not serve the local miners?
