Loutolim Goatees proved to be deserving winners of the 2010 Goan Inter-Village
Soccer tournament when they downed Aguada Waves 3-1 in the final at the Esther
Shiner Sadium in Toronto on September 18.
The team had won the title in 2000 and 2008.
Showing maturity with better coordination and well-patterned movements,
Loutolim exercised slight control over the match. It was not long after the
start that the team took the lead from a penalty kick by Neil D’Silva. The
penalty was awarded when a Aguada defender handled the ball in the box.
Displaying good fighting spirit, Aguada kept the Loutolim forwards at bay and
made some sporadic runs into the rival territory. One such led to the team
getting the equaliser from Andrew Saviel before half-time.
On resumpton, Neil struck again to make it 2-1 for Loutolim. As time was
running out for Aguada, Ron Monteiro sealed the game for the winners with a low
drive.
