Dear Charudatt, Hi! I hear you and thanks for responding. http://mahapolice.gov.in/mahapolice/jsp/temp/html/flag_code_of_india.pdf PART I GENERAL section states: 1.1 The National Flag shall be a tri-colour panel made up of three rectangular panels or sub-panels of equal widths. The colour of the top panel shall be India saffron (Kesari) and that of the bottom panel shall be India green. The middle panel shall be white, bearing at its centre the design of Ashoka Chakra in navy blue colour with 24 equally spaced spokes. The Ashoka Chakra shall preferably be screen printed or otherwise printed or stenciled or suitably embroidered and shall be completely visible on both sides of the Flag in the centre of the white panel.
There is no mention made of color values, color specifics. What I am looking for are Official Color Values for the Indian flag, as decreed by an Indian Govt. body. As you know, people like you and me based on experience--can come up with a kesri/bhogvo, nillo, and something between general hirvo and Chutt'tte kor (to give us India Green). In my mind I can decide "a" kesri color but is it what is used on all flags, put up on all Indian government buildings. Besides they not all being the same kesri, in some cases go towards a range of kusumbem = reddish orange. Hence I am looking for what has been decided as precise color values. I am not saying that say dyers, designers, printers should work in RGB, or some other color model. All I wish to know is whether we have a system in place--in contemporaneity. Also, if an official in the know says that such and such are the exact colors based on a paper or precise cloth samples (there would have to be some compensation--considering nature of cloth, weave, etc) --one can go to work with a densitometer. Btw, a bit of general information: I learnt decades ago while representing Maharashtra at the Stamp Design Camp in Nashik (Ram Niwas Mirdha was the Minister for Posts at the time) is that the green color on the flags of India, Pakistan,Bangladesh, Maldives, and Afghanistan are all different! But what are the official color values of the Indian flag? A stamp that India printed of South Asian Flags was if I am not mistaken--a 12 color job. It could not be risked being printed via 4-color. ++++++++ Thanks again to Sebastian Borges from whom I learnt many Konknni words related to color a few months ago. ++++++++++++ venantius j pinto > Message: 8 > Date: Mon, 27 Sep 2010 21:53:20 +0530 > From: Charudatt Prabhudesai <[email protected]> > To: post list <[email protected]> > Subject: Re: [Goanet] Vol 5, Issue 1047Message: 3[G'net] Colors of the > Indan Flag > > > RE: Message: 3 > > Dear Venantius, > However, the colour should be > "India saffron (Kesari) and that of the bottom panel shall > be India green." according to > mahapolice.gov.in/mahapolice/jsp/temp/.../flag_code_of_ > > india.pdf -
