BC Portugal's Ambassador to India, Dr Luis Filipe Castro Mendes along with the Consul General of Portugal in Goa Paulo Pocinho on Monday paid a visit to one of Asia’s oldest civic bodies, the corporation of the city of Panjim. The ambassador said Lisbon was ready to provide technical support to the CCP in running the city affairs. The Mayor of Panaji Carolina Po along with CCP commissioner Elvis Gomes accorded a warm welcome to both the Portuguese dignitaries and handed over mementoes to them on behalf of the Corporation by mayor. Welcoming the Portugal ambassador to India, the Panjim mayor stated that the corporation was happy to have both the Portuguese delegates at the CCP, which indicated the friendship with Portugal who colonized Goa for 450 years. Thanking for the hospitality shown to him, the Portuguese ambassador said his visit to the CCP was to have better understanding between the city of Lisbon and the city of Panjim on various issues. The Portuguese ambassador said though there was an understanding between India and Portugal with regards to sports, his country was also ready to support Goa in terms of technical points of municipal administration.
