*U.G.C 35th Soccer Tourney*
The second week of matches of the 35th edition of the United Goans Centre rolling trophy tournament was played on October 1st 2010. The tournament was played under the auspices of the Kuwait Indian Football Federation at the Shuwaikh fire brigade stadium. The first match began at 7:15 am between Rawda Boys S.C. and Rising Stars. The match started at a fast pace with both teams failing to capitalize on early chances in the first ten minutes. Rising stars started to pass the ball nicely among them and were moving the ball to all areas of the ground creating for themselves a lot of attacking chances. Both the teams had a freekick in the first twenty minutes with Rawda boys just placing it above the bar and soon it would be Rising Stars chance, the goal keeper produced a great save to keep the ball out with his fingertips. Rising Stars continued to add pressure and were rewarded with Fajula scoring from a nice pass from Sahfiq. To make it 1-0. Within minutes Rising stars were attacking again and scored a second from mohammed shafiq. Mohamed Shafiq beat the keeper and his marker with his header to make it 3-0 at the end of the first half. The second half began at 7:55 and rising stars wasted no time in attacking. Fajula shot from inside the Dee forced the keeper to make a good save to keep the ball out of the net. Rwada challengers created a nice chance when their striker was one on one with the keeper but he failed to slot one in to cut the deficit. The rising stars keeper made a crucial save to make sure there would be no surprises to come in this match. Towards the end of the first half No.10 Fajilu scored his second goal of the match from a nice through ball. The rising stars were able to keep a clean sheet and win the match with a score of 4-0. The match was refereed by KIFF subcommittee by Edward/Nazareth/Joe. Rising Stars 4 Rwada Boys S.C 0 The second match started at 8:35 am where Goa Maroons were taking on Curtocares. Both teams started the game with equal procession and the ball was moved around midfield a lot and both teams found it tough to launch an attack. The defenses of both the teams were doing a good job in dealing with all kinds of attacks. The first goal was provide by Ian Dsouza who did a good job to stop the attack and then provided the ball Kennedy who made no mistake in providing the lead to make it 1-0. Goa Maroons steeped up the pace after the first goal and continued attacking towards Curtocares goal. Their keeper made some good saves to deny Maroons from scoring again. However No.9 Steven was providing some good balls from the midfield to the strikers and he provided a good ball to Kennedy who made no mistake to make it 2-0 in the first half. The second half started at 9:20am with Curtocares creating more chances for themselves, but their lack of failing to finish failed to get them on the scorecard. No.7 Minguel Moyro was inside the Goa Maroons half and took a shot from an acute angle to score to make 2-1. With fifteen minutes left to play, Curtocares were looking for their second goal and they were nearly gifted a chance when a back pass fell to the feet of the striker of Curtocares but he failed to find the back of the net. The match finished with the score line 2-1 and Goa Maroons moves on to the next round to face either K.G.A or United Goans in the quarterfinals.
