Thank you for your observations.
Yes, The fish market has been left out as also the other sections of the
market.
We talked about the Mapusa Market in General and its overall management.
We believe that new fish Market is being built soon.
As far as MNE is concerned, the existing Portuguese built Mapusa Market has
out-grown its need. We need to put up a modern market maintaining the the
ground floor spread , improving on it drastically and go vertical even to
accomodate parking floors. We have privately put our architect friends to
work on this model and every input is being looked at.
Rest assured even if MNE gets 2 councillors in, that would be satisfying,
though people of Mapusa must vote for MNE Panel enmasse this time as this is
the only time we have Mapusa Centric Manifesto, under a serious, no-nonsense
organization.
BTW MNE shall be filing nominations to all 15 wards on Saturday, 9th.
October, 2010 - morning. Conscious Mapxemkars are requested to be present at
the Office of the Deputy Collector. Timing shall be made known. The MNE
nomination filing shall be covered by press and Cable TV Channels.

I love the manifesto of the MNE as detailed by Floriano on the
Goanet. They have covered most of the immediate requirements of our
lovely Mapusa. The most important item which has not received their
attention is the improvement in the Mapusa Fish Market as there in no
mention of it anywhere. Can this market be demolished/rebuilt to
bring it up to some quality and sanitation standards? During the past
rainy season one had to walk in the fish market with umbrellas or raincoats
because the market was open to the sky from the top as it did not have a
covered roof !!!! Whilst walking you had to almost swim to check
which fish to buy and from whom to buy as the floor was in such a terrible
condition with broken tiles and puddles. The state of this market is
so pathetic with the water puddles, open to sky, broken flooring, rotten
fish on the floor, spitting around, etc.
I would request the new MNE to kindly come up with a plan for a decent
place for the fish vendors and vegetable vendors so that the general
public can use these clean facilities in our Mapusa Market . I had an
opportunity to visit the Panjim vegetable market. The place seems to
be quite clean now with all the vendors sitting on raised level and doing
their daily business, although the fish market in Panjim still needs a lot
of improvement. Compared to Panjim market, the fish and vegetable
markets in Mapusa are in a pathetic condition at the moment. The
roads around and to the markets are also in same pathetic
conditions. Our only request to the new MNE or whosoever wins the
coming Municipal elections, PLEASE for the sake of all Mapsenkars,
Bardezkars and Goans in general who visit Mapusa market, improve the basic
necessities in the Mapusa Market and God will shower his blessings on you
all !!!!
