FIR: Panjim Head Post Office has 10 Service counters but.. We were there in a Q at 1.15pm. There are 1+8 Multipurpose Service Counters but only one was active. The lady behind the counter No. 3 was dealing with all types services such as Registered Post, Speed Post, Parcels, Bill Payment, Postal saving etc etc
Some in the Qs had up to 20 letters for registered post. Another Lady had bulk post to or from Commissioner of Customs.. The Q was growing.. In the next section (see pic) there are 5 more Multipurpose Service Counters, some appeared to be active, when approached, they directed us back to Counter No. 3 (Don’t know what their Multipurpose Counters are dealing with) All Counters just say ‘Multipurpose Counter’ It does not indicate whether, Speed Post, Registration etc. Earlier, we joined the same counter 3 for stamps and later on we found out Counter Number 1 is for stamps and not 3, we wasted 30 minutes unnecessarily. Counter No 1 does not says ‘Stamps’ anywhere There is no display of counter service timing anywhere, so public can’t even question them. At 1.45pm, Counter No. 2 opens but Counter No. 3 is closing now. We were told to shift our entire Q to No. 2 Our turn finally came up just around 2.30pm. Imagine to be in a Q for more than one hour at the GPO or HPO at Panjim. What more? We are told this is always been like this. At this time, we went to see Post Master but he is missing too. We were told he is not in today. Today, 8th October 2010. They get all the 6th Pay may be very soon 7th pay etc And what do we, aam admi, get? All this hassles?
