Tiatr ‘Drops’ It can be drops of water, sweat , dew, rain etc But in this context, it is the drops of Blood, Milk and Polio. It’s the Christmas night, everybody getting ready for midnight mass. But in this household, there is a double joy, It’s a big day for one of the sons, as he is saying his first Holy Mass, Fr. Chris (Francisco Caiado).
Mother (Martha), younger son Zico (Christopher), Daughter in law Reema (Alifa), Middle son Trevor ( Christo), grand son Shelton (Nicolas) are all ready to go but Reema suddenly started feeling uneasy and decides to stay home. Shelton instead of going to Church straight goes to Daryl (Cajie) as he was desperate for drug dose. Knowing Reema all alone at home, Daryl who earlier made failed attempts to win Reema’s heart, visits her house. Reema rejects Daryl as always, he leave home with a threat of teaching her a lesson. Soon Reema gets a phone call from her husband’s friend to say her husband died in a terrorist attack in Gulf. Reema collapsed. Another intruder makes an entry and took advantage of the situation (Rape). 9 months later, another new member of the house arrives baby Pearl (Shanice) born blind and later on. crippled (no polio drops/ dose given) Grand mother does not accept Pearl as her grand child, son does not accept her as niece nor the brother Shelton accept her as his sister. Everybody wants to know who is the father of Pearl? Trevor even doubts his brother Fr. Chris, the priest leaves the house.. Soon he dies of drowning while trying to save another boy from the picnic group. Pearls get new eyes, she can now see the light of the world. Thanks to the priest. Reema continues getting ill treatment for she is not willing to disclose who the child’s father was?. So, who really is the father? We thought we all knew that i.e. one and the only one Daryl but we were wrong. In the concluding part, we were shocked when we knew who the father is. It’s unbelievable but not impossible though.. First time I know that drugs can make a person to commit such a disgusting act. Please, say NO to DRUGS. Tiatr ‘THEMBE’ by Christopher Menezes (Krist Kreations, Divar) was the 9th entry in the ongoing 36th Tiatr Competition, staged today 8th Oct. 2010 Bearing the concluding revelation part (I wish it was different), putting together the overall performance including songs, music etc, I personally feel this tiatr, so far, done very well. (mind you, there are still 12 more to go) JoeGoaUk top prize for acting goes to Alifa (Reema) And child actor Shanice Caiado (Pearl) The tiatr had about 10 songs. All song were good. 3 child actors as young as 6, sang very well The opening chorus with three colour drops sang by Shayna, Shanice and Aron. – See pic Other singer were: Bonie Vales, Francis Caiedo, Martha De Souza, Sandra d’Souza, Alifa d’ Cruz, Cajie Fernandes, Lucas, Joecy, Alistr etc JoeGoaUk’s best singing award goes to Joecy (see pic) and the child actors Shanice & Shayna (6). Extra: At the end of most podd’dde, the dialogue always ended in ‘Thembe’ At exactly. 9.15 pm, i.e. end of 5th podd’ddo the dialogue again ended with ‘thembe’ Guess what? Half the audience already vacated their seats and were half way out only to come back when they saw two young kids singing their duets. The tiatr eventually ended 35 minutes later i.e. 9.50pm Com’64 riding bicycle on stage with Sandra sitting on the bracket.
