Tiatr ‘Till Death’ (until death) How much a father can take? How much a husband can put up with....? Wife (Nacia Afonso) always fighting/shouting to her loudest voice with her ever so loving husband (Pascoal Rodrigues). When mother fights or screams kids can’t concentrate on their studies, they are scared too. Son (Joesan Afonso) wanted to become an engineer but how could he? Husband’s sister (Francisca Rodrigues) and his aunty (Clara Dias) not even allowed to visit the house.
Wife now goes a step ahead, having affair with her rich NRI ex-boyfriend Floyed (Andrew Fernandes). She loves him for his riches. . This has now become a talk of the town. Direct effects on grown up children too.. Like mother like daugheter. Very young daughter too has a boyfriend now. Son (Josly Monteiro) is now become Alcohol/smoking addict. Father tries his best to put some senses into his children and wife but all in vain. Wife now comes out in the open, she says to her husband ‘I don’t love you any more, I love Floyed’ It’s too much for the husband/father. Wife and her paramour plan to kill.. also overhead by the aunty who in turn pass it on to his nephew. As if he didn’t believe her, at home, he too listen to the live conversation between his wife and the paramour about the plan tonight. He now has plan of his own which he thinks is the only option left.. Before he hangs himself to death, he shoots his wife. Sending a strong message across that husband-wife should stick to their contract made before God till death. MOROSOR a tiatr by Salvador Afonso ( SKSS, Katurli, Goa-Velha) staged today (13/10/10) at Kala Academy Panjim. This was the 12th entry in the ongoing 36th Tiatr Competition. Salvador Afonso (with his wife Inacia) from Chandor, is better known for his ‘Zomnivoile Khell’ or Carnival Khell. Perhaps, this could be the reason the hall was half empty. Mind you, there could be another reason.. No bulk buying of 300-400 odd tickets by the producer/director as in most cases. Well, what can I say about this tiatr? JoeGoaUk as a judge, gives over 90% of the total marks What a tiatr! No fuss no frills, simple and traditional tiatr. No special light effects. No huge stage set up, No 9-11 piece band, No audio-visuals, yet scores the highest End of the tiatr, heard some saying ‘Tiatr best’ Another 9 (tiatr) still to go. Very thinly but spontaneous public applause (Remember, the hall was half empty, plus they didn’t have their paid or free ticket supporters, who often clap even when there is nothing to clap) I must also confess that I too thought this tiatr would be below average like the first 3. Homework well done! No glitches no hiccups. Every one was at their best. JoeGoaUk’s top prize for best acting, jointly goes to Nacia Afonso and Pascoal Rodrigues. Coming to the songs.. There were about 14 songs Opening by Salvador – see pic Solo by Victor D’Cunha – Very good (on corruptions, Civic/Traffic sense) Trio by Nacia, Joesan & Salvador – Very good (on doubting ‘accidental’ shooting death in the south jungle) Solo by Pascoal Rodrigues – Good Solo by Salvador – good (on Brothers unity) Quartet by Clara, Andrew, Francisca and Amcio Pereira – Good (as all four drunkards- bebde and bebdulam) 2 Solos by Vincy – Good ( one on Goemcho Saib) Solo by Nacia - Good (on Achar/ Superstitions e.g. tiklem ot tikttem) Duet by Jasmin-Salvador – very Good (married sister wants to come home for good but brother says you are welcome to visit sometimes and not for good) Duo by Victor-Andrew – Good (on Fathers and mothers) Solo by young Joesan – Very Good ( says trees are our wealth, he also talked about fields, concrete jungles etc) = JoeGoaUk’s top prize for best song/lyrics Quartet by Victor-Nacia-Andrew-Jasmin Duo/duet by Joesan-Sanyo – Good (Don’t worry be happy) Extra: - Sometimes, it appeared that the wife was shouting too much (i.e. louder) she could bring her volume down (Looks it was her habitual). - One of the two little brothers in the last song had a minor problem of FLs but music and they soon able to patch things up and continued till the end. - One of the judges brother also played a cameo role, also twice seen in quartet/duo .- see pic I won’t be wrong if I say, of the total crowd, half of them are the tiatrists and their family including the the actors of the 11 tiatr that are held already e.g. Socoro de St. Cruz, Tomazin Cardoz, Maria, Albert, Aniceto, Com64, Derrick D’Mello, Victor, Cameron etc etc Ok the stage pics Before Marriage – with the priest http://www.flickr.com/photos/joegoauktiatr6/5078522973/ Son when young with parents http://www.flickr.com/photos/joegoauktiatr6/5079116846/ Family with grown up son/daughter http://www.flickr.com/photos/joegoauktiatr6/5078526021/sizes/l/ Father-Daughter http://www.flickr.com/photos/joegoauktiatr6/5078527527/ Wife and her ‘Kumpar’ http://www.flickr.com/photos/joegoauktiatr6/5078525215/ Aunty Clara Dias http://www.flickr.com/photos/joegoauktiatr6/5079118644/ His wife Nacia http://www.flickr.com/photos/joegoauktiatr6/5078526451/ Aunty with nephew http://www.flickr.com/photos/joegoauktiatr6/5079122536/ suicide http://www.flickr.com/photos/joegoauktiatr6/5079123036/ After suicide, it’s funeral http://www.flickr.com/photos/joegoauktiatr6/5079125276/ The Songs/singers Solos..
