Tiatr ‘Wedge’ Some married women are after their figure, career etc which could means they would go any extent to maintain their figures. Pregnancies are the last things they would go for. or if they have a child they would either delay or not go for the second one at all. But in this family, the wife already have two (Twin Sons) and despite taking all the precautions, she conceives another child.
‘No way I am going to keep it’ said the wife to her husband… overheard by a friend and his wife from Punjab, who are desperate for a child, humbly request the couple not to abort the child and instead give it to them for adoption.. The wife eventually and reluctantly agrees but with some conditions: After the birth, - The mother would not breast-feed the baby nor spend a single day with the baby nor she will see her own baby - No one should know about the baby’s adoption not even the baby when grows up. Wife spend 5 months in Punjab (away from Goan society) and returns back soon after giving birth a baby boy. This boy brought luck to the Punjab Goan family even before he was born – wife is now pregnant too. About 20 years later, back in Goa, the twin sons dies of downing. That means, it’s time to claim back their son who was given for adoption with whom they had no contact all these years . Fearing the family might claim back their child, the Punjab couple now in Goa for good says ‘This is our own son. Your son died when he was two months old’ But the son falls in love with a Canada born Goan girl who happens to be a niece of Goan friend who was on holidays in Goa. Punjab mother says to her son ‘ No way we will allow you to marry this girl’ Goan mother wants to know why? ‘It would be like marrying within the family’ slip of the tongue Truth unearthed. This one is the adopted son. Son finds out too and wanted to know who his real parents are? Leaves the house never to come back…but soon retunes back (reformed) as a ‘wedge’ to strengthen the two family bond.
