Perhaps not an exaggeration when emphasis are noted as seen below.
+++++
" Priti Kumari, 34, is the first woman train driver on India's vast western
railway network." (emphasis on WRN)
&
Tracking the journey of Mumbai's first woman train driver by Prachi Pinglay
(emphasis on Mumbai's first, which follows emphasis of WRN in the above
sentence)
+++++
Not sure whether the language could have been better. I leave that to the
grammarians. Saying anything further could get misconstrued. To conclude:
She is not the FIRST WOMAN in the WHOLE of INDIA. BUT is on WESTERN RAILWAY.
Thank you Gabe for for remembering and pointing out India's first woman
driver (engineer -- a term not employed in India). This was about Mumbai,
hence made the connection to Goa/Goans, as also included Bernardo -- my Dad,
a Goan man whose runs was merely from Mumbai's Docks to Wadala and a bit
afar -- a shunting driver (different focus, different pace): "Thought a
Goans(sic) would be the first one to made the grade -- on the Mumbai and
suburbs gradient..." A Goan woman!

The upper casing is not meant to belittle. Please.
