"..., with the benefit of much more advanced techniques, a snippet of which
was given in the CNN news report, clearly shows that, like all other mental
phenomena, these subjective practices and experiences too emerge solely
as a consequence of the activity of the brain, irrespective of which religion
or
belief system to which they belong. Furthermore, like the processes of learning
and laying down of memories, the brain activity underlying these natural mental
phenomena in turn produces short- and long-lasting changes in the circuitry and
subsequent activity of the brain."

I say: Whoever has claimed otherwise? Ramakrishnadev (Paramahansa) used
to say," joto mot, totho poth" meaning, just as many are paths as there are
attitudes,
or beliefs)
But in deeper states of meditation, (stages before samadhi ) or even in state
known
as 'turiya' people who have experienced them claim various supra-physical
experiencing
(face of God, vision of Indra, Yama, Matarishwan, etc.)
Some day in future science may be able to confirm all that, only it will try to
( and succeed perhaps, for ours is the middle world of possibilities)
attribute it all to some material corresponding part of the body. Truth is,
these things
exist and all experiencing there, although it may not be as tactile as matter,
influence
material life.
Body is the sheath which help us experience, therefore the body, too, is God.
Science helps us understand and so she too is God. Al this is God ( Isha
vassyamidam sarvam"
Sp jai science and Jai God!!!!
