IN The just concluded elections to MargaO municipality BJP WAS ROUTED,the Margao unit of the party needs to do some introspection as to the selection of the candidates. in many wards the candidates fielded by the party were not up to the mark, where was the need for the party to field candidates who have served two terms? eg mr FONDEKAR IN COMBA.there they could have fielded young candidate who could have been guided by seniors like Mr Fondekar.to some extent reservations have harmed the party but that can not be an excuse.the newly elected council has many PWD CONTRACTORS this is a cause for concern. as regards MARGAO LOK SAMITI, THEIR role shall be keenly watched by people of Margao who have betterment of the town as their sole motto and not any political or economic gains. margao lok samiti should remain vigilant and keep a check on wrong doings of councilors and expose them, and also educate and empower margao voters other wise it will be like any other samitis which are formed at the time of elections to suit some political groups and which fold up once the narrow interest is achieved. here wishing all the elected council members good luck, i hope they shall fulfil what they have promised Madgaonkars.
