Hi Wendell, First of all congratulation to you, and your team on your Kunbi Saree project, its success, and the belief reposed in you and their God by the weavers. Fear of any kind is what it is to any crafts person/the artist (in the myriad of conceptions of the word), and just perhaps any entrepreneur, particularly when one moves into working/revitalizing. bring back the ghost on/of a hitherto different form. I am sure all this is true.
One point that may interest you: You have a track record in the art/applied world of fashion, as also the world of dealing with people -- elite and the hoi-polloi. That is a given. But to be challenged, why would you need people who project which projects take off or stay on the ground! I would think the project as you conceived it had sufficient merit. As in, being door keepers of --- success and its attendant companions; cultural dispersions, value to identity, and sheer business potential which is incidentally the key and a worthy one at that. Again for sure. But reminisces, and the accompanying thoughts are exactly that -- they tell us things that the mind has been working through. Congratulations also to your well wishers, over the duration of the project and moving into the future. A suggestion: Consider inviting Goan artists living in Goa to contribute designs to this project. I think it will take your project in other directions. Of course look at your business/creative implications etc. Btw, am not asking for a response; merely shared my thoughts. However, if you do respond -- then share it on Goanet, or simply ignore. As always the very best. ++++++++++++ venantius j pinto > Message: 4 > Date: Fri, 12 Nov 2010 10:12:55 -0500 > From: Wendell Rodricks <[email protected]> > Subject: [Goanet] StyleSpeak: Fruit of the Loom > > StyleSpeak: Fruit of the Loom > By Wendell Rodricks > > > (DEL) > I reminisced how everyone said it was an uphill task and this weaving > project in Goa would not take off the ground.
