Gabe, To extend your logic further, wouldn't you agree that all animal slaughter is cruel? Shouldn't we be simply banning all of it?
I think we're taking our own ideas of right or wrong, and trying to impose it on the rest of the world. Most strangely, it seems very "normal" to us to do. Eathing halal meat wouldn't be an issue for me, as long as it didn't cost extra :-) Just as I don't mind going strictly veg in mixed settings.
