An article on Statesman: Rahul aids communal forces
When Rahul expressed his urge to take Bihar elections under his captaincy, senior Congressmen were skeptic as Rahul was not only inexperienced, but also slow in grasping things. But the Madam’s coterie finally prevailed and Rahul started doing things in Bihar, which the media described as magic. This coterie was flattering Madam to project Rahul as the Congress’ PM candidate prior to the last Loksabha election. But being aware of her son’s low IQ, she set it aside. Since then the coterie is planning to put Rahul in PM’s chair by 2012-13. They drew a master plan: Take Rahul to campaign in Bihar, create media hype, pep up his image using old tactics, eat with dalits, take second class train travel etc. They thought like father, grandmother and great grandfather, he would unleash some charisma. Even if he cant achieve this, there are many other factors: Congress ruling at centre, Manmohan’s clean reputation, NREGA, anti-incumbancy against Nitish, which can easily win atleast 20 seats for congress out of 243 in Bihar legislative assembly. If this is achieved, Congress can then support Nitish to form the government and thus Rajdeeps can project that Rahul drew Nitish away from the communal BJP. Madam’s remark that Congress deliberatelly did not align with Lalu confirms the game plan. But Rahul’s mathematics was so bad that the strategy boomeranged and the Congress almost disappeared in Bihar. With the game plan failed, the blame game is on at 10 Janpath. True congressmen reiterate their advice not to ditch Lalu, who had stuck to Congress in the UPA-1. The strategy of ditching allies succeeded in Indira years. But now the times have changed with the electorate refusing to repose faith in ditchers. Bihar Congress leaders, who were made to lose are murmering that Rahul aided communal forces. Some wonder if Rahul was mistakened for Varun. The joke going on is: While Nitish’s no to Narendra Modi campaign helped JD(U) to gain 20 seats, Rahul’s presence helped BJP gain 30 seats. In future state elections, every Congress CM would to do a Nitish: No Rahul campaign. They may not be able to say so publicly but they would definitely say it in the bathroom. CAG report on 2G was a handiwork of coterie and a part of above gameplan. Kill one bird (Raja) and injure other (Manmohan). As per the plan, coterie has to find strong reason to dislodge Manmohan by 2012/13 and injury is a part of ongoing process. When Subramaniam Swamy got a wind of this plan, he gave a clean cheat to the PM and implicated Moily (a coterie), who was misguiding the PM. With Rahul failing badly, Manmohan is now safe. Will Madam now also promote Jyotiraditya Scindia, Sachin Pilot and Jitin Prasad?
