In a 'free democracy' the Camoes bomber/bombers remain scott free even after 50 years. It is alleged that the bombing of the statue which was standing in Old Goa was conducted by the terror group Azad Gomantak Dal led by one Prabakar Sinari. This same person became Inspector General of Police of Goa. It is also believed that his daughter I think having the name of Smita (ex Sharda Bandar) is a Portuguese citizen. The reason I have written about the daughter is because of the hate these chaps have for the Portuguese yet in the hour of need they will look for the Portuguese.
This incident happened during the erthswhile Bandodcar regime which wanted to destroy Goa by merging it with Maharashtra with the pretext that Goa could not be ruled by Goans. No body was brought to justice in this incident. Instead the the statue was removed and placed in the church musuem in Old Goa. One is flabbergasted to read words such as 'free democracy' written by elements of desi premi on this forum when the truth of the happenings post 61 is very questionable. Camoes is among the world 10 best poets, to bomb his statue by the terror group is no different than what the Taliban did with the Buddha carvings in Afghanistan. BC
