Dr Lyndon Da Cruz talks about his research. Named as one of London's "1000 most influential people in 2008" by the Evening Standard, the 44-year-old has headed a team which carried out the UK's first "bionic eye" operations. Commented the Evening Standard: "The medical breakthrough involves sending wireless signals to receiver and electrode panel embedded in the brain. Da Cruz is also working on a UKP 4 million funded project to cure blindness using stem cells. This medical first could be a reality within the next five years."
