Quepem municipality has decided to levy an octroi of 2% on mining profit.
The profit on ore is Around Rs 5000 per ton. So the octroi will be Rs 100
per ton. Around 20 lac tonne is transported through Quepem. This means the
municipality will earn Rs 20 crore a year.
