We expect our politicians to do everything. How come we have got a
political class that we complain of all the time? isnt it our own fault?
The time has come where people like us have to inspire our brethren to
take up jobs in all fields whether it is being a taxi driver, or a
farmer, or a mason or a carpenter. In the old days, it was the goan
carpenter who was the most sought after, or even the goan mason. Why is
it that we have not been able to instill pride in these professions?
Surely, social organizations can take the lead in showing people the
way. Politicians as a class will generally divide people in India. Let
us not look to them. We first need a sociological revolution after which
a political revolution will take place automatically. If we think that
politics is going to change just like that, we are sadly mistaken
because allo that will happen will be a mathematical change. We need an
overhaul of the system.
So, instead of crying, let us get down to action and let us make the
difference. Goans are a very capable lot, we are intelligent people. Let
us bow our heads and shed our egos, let us work together for the
betterment of our motherland, let us not curse each other at the drop of
a hat. Let us use words of praise and upliftment rather than always use
words of condemnation. There are divisions even in a marriage, so why
will not there be divisions amongst ourselves? Even then, let us do our
best to lift others, and I am sure that we will see change through co
operation and help to each other.
We are in our golden year, let us use this opportunity of forging unity
amongst ourselves by first using less of divisive words....shall we
start by finding people that we can praise? Even it means a plain simple
singer in the village or a person who bakes some nice cakes? Let us make
a difference in these peoples lives. If we can help a young woman make
more moeny for her family by encouraging her to use her talents to make
cakes or sorapotel etc., she will radiate happiness which she will carry
on and pass on to someone else. Let us start with our strengths.
