I just read relevant portions of the book entitled, "Health and hygiene in
colonial Goa, 1510-1961", written by Fátima da Silva Gracias, and published by
the Xavier Centre for Historical Research. I would recommend those interested
in this topic to read it, and try to confirm the facts described in it from
other sources. It is an eye opener considering the myths being propagated by
people in this forum regarding sanitation and hygiene in Goa based on mere
perceptions and personal biases.
