Annual zatra to begin at Fatorpa

MARGAO: The annual zatra of Shree Shantadurga Fatorpekarin Sansthan,
Fatorpa, one of the most famous and important zatras of Goa, will begin
on January 5 and continue till January 8.
Thousands of devotees from every nook and cranny of the state as well as
those from the neighbouring states of Maharashtra and Karnataka are
expected to flock to the temple town of Fatorpa during the four-day
zatrotsav to pay obeisance to the deity.
Sources informed that the first day of the zatra is observed in the
honour of Bhumipurush which is marked by a grand procession of the deity
in a silver chariot.
The second day is observed in the honour of Saptakoteshwar and the
highlight of this day is the peacock chariot.
The procession of the deity is carried out in a sun chariot on the third
day. The maharath or the grand chariot on the fourth day marks the
conclusion of the zatrotsav.
Meanwhile, the renovation of the Shree Saptakoteshwar temple within the
Devasthan complex is currently underway. The peculiar feature of this
temple is that it is being built using black stone, it was informed.
