Scientific findings need to be subjected to peer review at a minimum before
they can be taken seriously. Issuing press releases or letting lay journalists
write stories in the newspapers about them is a bad idea. Furthermore, they
need to be stated with an abundance of caution without making any bold
pronouncements. The more understated your claim the better.
