Thanks to all who attended and supported the second GEMAI New Years Eve dance in the San Francisco Bay Area, proceeds to benefit Goa Sudharop. GEMAI stands for Goans, East Indians, Mangaloreans, Anglo-Indians. The GEMAI event is an attempt by the WORLD G.O.A.N. Network to reach out to our fellow communities.
The event was a complete success. Apologies to those who had to be turned away since the event sold-out. Dance proceeds were approximately $800 and your generous donations received were approximately $7,300 (includes an anonymous donation of $5,000 towards children orphanages/AIDS cause in Goa). The volunteer committee of Joe & Acaria Almeida, Oscar & Loreen DSilva, Tony and Melanie Moniz, sincerely thank everyone and appreciate their presence, participation, support, help at the event (set up/ cleanup and bar assistance), and donation of raffle gifts including Goa's Kazkar Feni, from Wine Globe and Joanie’s homemade Mid-Night Lemon coconut cookies. We would also like to thank DJ Clint John for his fun music, Stephen Coutts Sr. for emceeing the event, and Malcolm & Elaine D'Sa (3D Gourmet Catering) for the delicious dinner and for helping to make this a successful fund-raiser and an enjoyable event. Also thanks to our youth that helped with checking in our guests and with ticket sales.
