-- Samir Umarye BICHOLIM JAN 25: The Chief Conservator of forest, Shashi Kumar today visited Keri Sattari and agreed to the fact that there is presence of tiger in the area.
According to the available information on Monday finger prints of a tiger were spotted at Keri and the forest department was informed about the same. Taking note of the same the CCF for the first time visited the area and personally inspected the area. As per the information besides the footprint a worker working close to the place where the footprint are found has seen a female tigeress along with a cub. Speaking to media the CCF chief, Shashi Kumar agreed that there would be presence of tiger in the area. "The footprint seem to be that of a tiger but we are yet to verify the same and we would send the prints for scientific examination so that we have a proof of the presence of a tiger" Shashi Kumar explained. He also told that the area would be monitored as Tiger is among the endangered species in India. "We would monitor the area and keep vigil so that the animal is not harmed by anyone as it is an endangered species" CCF told. It may be recalled that Keri - Sattari was in news when some years back a carcass of a tiger was found in the forest and the Forest department had also arrested several persons from the village in this connection.
