Gabe, Unfortunately for us, a thing called professional integrity is in short supply in Goa. It was sad to see a respected professor of pathology proclaim that there were no internal injuries and suggesting that there was no foul play.
During the anrti-nylon struggle, a police officer had shot a 19 year old un-armed youth dead infront of 200 eyewitnesses. He was protected by Rane and my info is that he is still a senior officer in Goa police. I am glad that in Cypriano's case, at least some action is being taken against erring police officers. Indian police federation or some such body has recommended that in every case of death in police custody or police shootings, there should be judicial inquiry and I sincerely hope public opinion will force Goa government to set one up.
