The illegal butchering of mangroves and polluting of water bodies does not seem to witness the same decibels of nosie as that against cow slaughter. The rape of a woman will not inspire the same intensity of protests as that is witnessed after thefts of the temples. If there was little of that same fervour of intolerance towards environmental destruction as that witnessed in hurting of religious sentiments, then much of Goa would have been saved. But that would not get in the votes and the money. When will Goans be declared a protected species?
