In English, relationships between people are not well defined. For example, we use the same term uncle to describe a maternal or a paternal uncle. In Konkani the equivalent would, if I am not be mistaken, mama and tiu.
I am hopeless at describing relationships in Konkani. Could someone elucidate the meanings of these terms : (or perhaps give a comprehensive vocabulary list describing relationships.) meuno. meuni saddu, bhacho, nonon, atem, ole pai, etc. I have not given an all inclusive list but just some terms which are in common usage. This list could be expanded. Also there is a difference in the way that Catholics and Hindus express these relationships. I would like an expanded list giving terms used by both religious groups. -- Tony de Sa. tonydesa at gmail dot com ^v^v^v^v^v^v^v^v^v^v^v^v^v^v^v^v^v^v^v^v^v^v^v^v^v
