DKA to hold Third Konknni Literary Cultural Sammelan

The Dalgado Konknni Akademi (DKA), an organisation working for the promotion of Roman script, will be organising its Third Konknni (Romi Script) Literary and Cultural Sammelan on February 19 and 20 at the Kala Academy, Panaji.

In the meeting held DKA at Panaji, Fr Conceicao D’Silva was elected the chairman of the reception committee of the Sammelan, Bonaventure D’Pietro the working president and Pio Esteves the secretary. Fr Conceicao D’Silva, presently the parish priest of the Carambolim church, has served as a curate in parishes of Verna, Tilamol and Calangute and as chaplain in the Ambelim chapel. He was also the parish priest of the Mandur church and is presently actively involved in social, cultural and sports activities and is also an untiring promoter of Konknni in Romi script. Recently, he received the state award for his social work at the hands of the Chief Minister, Mr Digambar Kamat. Bonaventure D’Pietro is involved in music and journalism. He has to his credit eight novels, namely Kallea Vistidachi Choli, Clara, Mhozo Paicho Fondd, From Goa With Love, Ek Bhett Mungllurchea Xharak, Jimmy, Tichea Mornna Uprant and Janya Celli. Pio Esteves, writer, cartoonist, musician and journalist, has authored six books in Konkani namely Kupam, Pakham, Sallkam, Ambott-Tik, Kaddyo-Boddyo and Jinneche Panvdde.
