Some "misguided supporters" of Mr Churchill Alemao put an "unprovoked" defamatory advertisement on page 11 of Herald newspaper (dated 5th February 2011) agains Dr Hubert Gomes.
This is my reply to all those who are still "slaves" to their old Master, and continue to bet on the wrong horse in today's politics in Goa...
When I started my fooball academy-BCC Football Academy on 4th December 2010 in Benaulim, little did I know that I would annoy anybody. I did not expect Mr Churchill Alemao would react "very strangely" to my act of service to the youth of Goa. Shockingly, he has not only stopped bad mouthing me in private, he has now gone "public" by instigating his supporters to publicly humiliate and intimidate me. And for what?
Although I am delighted that my Fooball Academy has inspired Churchill Brothers to also think of starting their own football academy in the near future, I am surprised at the "unprovoked reaction" of Mr Churchill Alemao and his supporters towards me. Nearly sixty of these poor, blind supporters were probably instigated by their one-eyed Master to put a "defamatory advertisement" against me in Herald Newspaper. Don't you think two and more football academies can co-exist and together they can do a lot of good for the development of football in Goa?
I do not wish to comment on the above mentioned advertisement , but only thank all my friends, well-wishers and supporters from Benaulim Constituency and Navelim village who have expressed their "solidarity" with me; and displayed their concern and anger in condemning the unprovoked, defamatory advertisement that appeared on “Herald” (5th Feb, pg 11). It looks like the "winds of change" are not only sweeping Egypt, they have begun to sweep the hearts and minds of right thinking Goans too. I am "overwhelmed" by the emails, SMSs and phone calls that have started pouring in from my well-wishers in Goa and across the Globe.
I wish to thank the co-ordinators of the "Rock the People of Navlem" Music Show who decided to invite me to be their Guest of Honour this evening. Their last-minute Invitation is a clear "People's Anger" to the stupid advertisement that was put by Churchill Alemao's Gang to defame me. Today's Music Show is right in the heart of Navelim... the present home Constituency of Mr Churchill Alemao. Is it not a slap in the face for this man... from his own "former voters" in Navelim?
Being a person who likes to act and “not react”, I would only like to say that I do not need a Character Certificate from any "disgruntled elements". After being in Public Life (as a dentist) for more than 27 years, “my image” is already well known to hundreds of people in Goa and many other parts of the world. Now for those who do not know me, I say… “I do not get intimidated by anybody and I care a damn for irrational criticisms”. Just as multiple members of other families think it is their right to contest elections and "Save Goa", and an over-ambitious Papa thinks he can impose his "Barbie Doll" on Benaulim Constituency; I too think it is my right to do what I feel is good for Goa and Goans.
Although I am an “infant in politics”, I am delighted to know that my presence in Politics has already “disturbed and unsettled” certain corrupt mass leaders in South Goa. I would like to assert and once again tell the misguided supporters (of leaders who have lost their credibility), that I have decided to contest the Assembly Elections not only because it is my fundamental right, but because I have a “people and environment friendly Political Agenda for Goa”.
It is true that unlike others, I do not have any “ill-gotten money” to buy people in Benaulim Constituency. But I do have lots of smart ideas to bring “good health and wealth” to the local citizens of my Constituency. I sincerely believe what the eminent scientist Dr R. Mashlekar said in his inaugural lecture of the D.D. Kosambei Festival of Ideas at Kala Academy yesterday… “It is not the size of the budget but the size of ideas that matters to make the impossible, Possible”.
In the days to come, I am confident that through my sincerity, hard work and courage, I will be able to win the hearts of people who have remained misguided with “false promises and propaganda” of others. As the famous old saying goes... "If God is for you, who can be against you?". And I do not think Mr Churchill Alemao is God of politics in Goa.... not anymore for sure!!!
My humble request: In order to ensure that "muscle and money power" does not take away our basic human rights in Goa, please share this Note with all your friend on Facebook and other internet sites. Today they are trying to intimidate me. Tomorrow they can do it to you and your loved ones in Goa. "Contesting elections" is one of the basic rights of every citizen of India. Nobody should be allowed to intimidate anybody and take away their "right to contest" the elections. Thanks.
