Blessed Vaz's 300th death anniversary is this year, as is Venerable Agnelo's 142nd birth anniversary. The Joseph Naik Vaz Institute (Berkeley, California) led by Filomena Giese is making a special effort in 2011 to have these causes promoted and have Blessed Vaz elevated to sainthood and Venerable Agnelo to Blessed. Goans have waited a long time for these deserving honors of the church.
